About YSEALI YOUnified
YOUnified is an annual community service campaign held around December 3rd to commemorate YSEALI’s anniversary and celebrate the power and potential of our YSEALI members. YOUnified combines the words YOUTH and UNIFIED to demonstrate YSEALI members’ ingenuity in creating solutions to shared community and regional challenges in one campaign. In 2017, YOUnified mobilized 11,000 young people in 10 ASEAN countries around 120 community projects and the momentum will continue in 2018.
"Joy of Giving" took place at Yangtaladwittayakarn School, Kalasin, on December 21, 2018
- The goals of this project are to let 81 youth participants to define who they are, to be the best version of them, to be proud of themselves and to be dream catchers. According to the high competitive societies, the students especially in remote area, do not aware of how far our societies have changed so far. Some of them still give emphasis on invaluable things and they do not plan their lives for the future. In contrast, some students are very patient and strict about the grades or the achievement. It might make them stressed and even worse it might bring them depression and finally commit suicide. It is so important to help them balance things out and guide them what to do next. So, we bring up a topic which is an essential part of becoming successful. It is about MINDSETS, Fixed and Growth mindsets. It cannot be possible to change their mindsets within a day but at least to have them think which mindset defines them. The Fixed represents "Achievement" and the Growth represents "Development" We share them some good stories about it and they seem completely overwhelmed.
Theory of ice burg, it is because most of the people always see a person externally, this is the reason why we bring up the Theory of Ice Burg. We need them to see a single person more deeper what he or she has done prior to becoming successful. So, let's imagine the ice burg. There, the summit above the sea represents success. Or you can say that the people only see someone's success or pride. But no ones can see the ice burg's bottom. So, it represents failures, disappointment, criticism, hard work, persistence and so on. This is very helpful for the students to learn and plan. So each of them will receive a paper and we assign them to do the activity on their own namely "your ultimate life goal" They write it individually on the paper about their ideal successes and importantly write the steps of becoming successful and later share their dreams to one another.
Hopefully, 81 youths will get a lot of experiences regarding Mindsets and the Theory of Ice Burg. It is so fantastic if they can define who they are, live their lives the best every day, be proud of themselves and follow their dreams. Finally, I receive very good feedback. My job is fulfilled.
*I am so so happy to be part of this camp to make my community lively and to see my students to become good and effective and productive citizens and to live their lives as they have planned. And I believe that they will pass what they have learnt today to the next generation.
