Trash Management (Trash is not Trash)

The project was related to the program called Southeast Asia Youth Leadership Program 2015 supported by the US Government. The program provided some grants for us to produce a charitable project in order to develop our own communities. So, this was the background of Trash Management Management (Trash is not Trash Project). The program took place in different schools in Thailand such as Songkhla University-Demonstration School, Suankularb Wittayalai Thonburi School, Sawananan Wittaya School and Yangtaladwittayakarn School, my school.

Yangtaladwittayakarn School is located in Kalasin province. I had run this wonderful project for one and a half years during the period I studied there.

The project aimed to decrease some amount of trash in some specific areas in the school, to raise awareness of the students to keep clean and to make trash becomes more valuably useful.  The commonly-found trash were plastic bottles, papers and cans. For the bottles and papers, it was sold for a private company and all income was donated to charities. Some parts of the cans were still usable so I donated it to the Disability Center to make prostheses for handicapped people.

One and a half years of  carrying this project on was absolutely challenging.
It was very awesome that I had a good team and massive support from everyone in the school. So, the result became as good as expected or even beyond. To make use of these trash, we brought some bottles to make recycle bins and plant vessels and it was genuinely usable.

"I am so proud of myself that I can lead my fellows to make a good change for everyone and to make our community the better place. Even it is just a small spot but it is so meaningful to see that once all people come together with the same purpose in developing our home."
